چکیده
MMPI-2 profiles of 93 presurgical intractable epilepsy patients were examined using Ward’s method of cluster analysis. Three clusters were identified. The means of each cluster suggest that 45% of the sample had minimal psychological complaints, 30% presented with generalized clinical elevations, and 25% of the patients had profiles of intermediate elevations with a tendency to emphasize somatic complaints and/or depression. Gender, age of seizure onset, and seizure laterality were not found to be uniquely associated with the cluster profiles. Further examination of correlates of group membership is warranted to provide information for treatment planning. © 2002 National Academy of Neuropsychology. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. The dynamic, multidimensional nature of executive function (EF), thought to be characteristically impaired in those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), has been challenging to operationalize and assess in a clinical setting [Barkley, R. A. (1997). ADHD and the nature of self-control. New York: Guilford Press.]. Gioia, Isquith, Guy, and Kenworthy [Gioia, G. A., Isquith, P. K., ...

In the face of ample experimental evidence on the importance of working memory capacity for everyday life, there is a growing need for measures suited for clinical assessment of working memory. For this purpose, the Adaptive Digit Ordering Test (DOT-A), a new version of a digit ordering test introduced by Cooper et al. [Brain 114 (1991) 2095], was developed in analogy to the Digit spans. In Stu...

Our study examined the impact of heroin on frontal executive functioning in three cognitive domains, namely attention, impulse control, and mental flexibility and abstract reasoning. It was hypothesized that heroin addiction would lead to deficits in these three cognitive domains. Fifty-five participants, 30 heroin addicts, and 25 normal controls were invited to participate in this study. Each ...

This article addresses the psychometric properties of the Dutch translation of the Structured Inventory of Malingered Symptomatology (SIMS) when administered to undergraduate psychology students as well as psychiatric inpatients. Findings show that this SIMS version possesses good test–retest reliability and internal consistency. Also, simulation findings indicate that undergraduate students in...

Previous research has demonstrated the ability of the Cognitive Behavioral Driver’s Inventory (CBDI) to detect neuropsychological malingering [Arch. Clin. Neuropsychol. 12 (5) (1997) 491.], however, the present study tests if the CBDI can discern malingerers when they are “coached” on how brain-damaged patients actually perform on neuropsychological tests. Ninety-eight college student participa...
